The Audition

The brief was to develop a scene from a situation that might lead to a dramatic scene and through an improvisation, adapt it into a short film.

As I realised that both the actors had background in dancing and with my prior experience as a dancer, I wanted to choose a common ground that they would understand as the base for the improvisation session, and so I decided on the struggle of a performer in an audition, a situation in which the very nakedness of the performer is entirely exposed without reservations.

Following the improvisation session, I then extracted this scene which shows the power struggle and vulnerability of a performer and shaped it into a narrative short film.
